1 Injured as Gunmen Attack Farmers in Taraba Community

Gunmen suspected to be Tiv Militias have reportedly attack and severely injured 1 farmers on Thursday in Rafin Kada community, Wukari LGA, Taraba state.
A source confirm to our correspondent that the attack happens on Thursday morning when almost all farmers are in their farms. The motivation behind the attack is unclear, but clashes are common between the Jukuns and Tiv in the areas for years now.
Confirming the incident, the victim of the attack Awudu Bigman Audu in a telephone call narrated how they were attacked by 3 arm Tiv men when they went to the farm to plant groundnut.
“We were five on the farm planting groundnut, we didn’t know they were coming, before we realize we were already surrounded. They ask us to lie down, and we did, and they started cutting my legs muscles with cutlasses. They wanted killing us without shooting, but when my brothers discovered they wanted to kill us, they ran into the gunmen, push then and ran away. That was when they started shooting at them, they left me, thinking I will bleed to death” he said.
According to him, he survived and he’s responding to treatment in the community hospital.
Also, as insecurity persist, a strong Vigilante group has killed three suspected bandits in Sansani Chiefdom of Gassol Local Government.
They have arrested and executed two ‘Bokolo’ Fulani, identified as Shehu Alhaji Umaru and his brother Debbu Alhaji Umaru at their settlement at Kauyen Sa’idu Village area on the midnight of Saturday as well as Alhaji Mustafa Adamu popularly known as Sarkin Shanu in Sansani town on Sunday morning for their alleged involvement in banditry, Kidnapping and Armed robbery.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Abdullahi Usman, said the incident is yet to be reported to the police.
