The majority members speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Daniel Ogah Ogazi,on Wednesday congratulated the new leadership of the National Aseembly led by Senator Godswill Akpabio of the senate chamber and Honourable Tajudeen Abbas ,speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, respectively.
Homourable Daniel Ogazi in his congratulatory message which reads in parts said” I congratulate the New Leadership of the 10th National Assembly of Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Senate President and Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker House Of Representatives on their election victories. A seamless democratic process that has further deepened democracy in the country and affirms the absolute independence of the Legislative Arm of Government in the country.
” Let me seize this opportunity to commend the democratic posture of H.E President Bola Ahmed Tinubu despite having preferred candidates, allowed all members to elect their leaders freely,in exercise of their constitutional rights to vote and be voted for in the just concluded National Assembly elections.
” I also salute the APC National leaders and all Security agencies for the professional manner in handling the election processes, purging themselves of partisanship. This is what is expected in a democratic setting, which is in-tandem with my avowed commitments to salvage Nasarawa State House of Assembly from undemocratic forces” Ogazi averred.
The embattle State Assembly speaker posited and strongly call State Governors to take a cue from Mr President and respect the law of separation of powers and independence of the Legislatures.
Stating further that ” I have confidence in the leadership capacities of the duo of Senator Akpabio and Speaker Abbas, to bring their vast legislative experiences to bear in translating the Renewed Hope of Nigerians into physical reality through People’s centered legislation, and in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), President Federal Republic Of Nigeria.
” Our proximity to Abuja, the seat of power avails us the opportunity to tap from the wealth of ideas of the Leadership of the 10th National Assembly and to this end, I want to express the readiness of the 7th Assembly in Nasarawa State to partner the National Assembly and replicating some of its sound legislations for a more robust legislative business in the state” He added.
New National Star report that although the embattle speaker ,honourable Daniel Ogazi maintains 14 elected members of the assembly ,he and the others are yet to elect their principal officers.
Meanwhile the Nasarawa State APC stakeholders and the governor have thrown their weight behind Spesker Ibrahim Balarabe ,who was elected by 10 members .
