England has won a battle against Denmark to have Nigerian born Arsenal’s whizkid Chidozie Obi-Martin to play in their national under 16 team.
Two European countries; England and Denmark were involved in a tussle of winning Obi-Martin’s acceptance to play for them .
It was reported that the 15-year-old was selected for the Denmark U16 squad on February 7, 2023, and on February 18, he was also selected for the English U16 national team.
The talent manager at DBU, Kenneth Heiner-Møller, tin an interview said, “It is related that we selected our squad before England did, and subsequently the English Football Association approached us in relation to Obi.”
Meanwhile, for now the 15-year-old Arsenal player has chosen England over Denmark.
Heiner-Møller has stated they are open to accepting the Arsenal player should he change his mind in the future.
