2023: Anambra widows vow to curse forces against Obi, Umeh, LP

Tony Okafor, Awka

No fewer than 3000 widows in Anambra State at the weekend vowed that they would pronounce a curse on any person or group of persons who would work against the victory of the Labour Party and it’s candidates in Anambra State in the 2023 general elections.

Specifically mentioning the presidential candidate of the LP, Peter Obi, and the Anambra Central Senatorial District candidate of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, as their adopted candidates in the poll, the widows said they would volunteer their ‘widow’s mite’ in all ramifications to ensure the victory of the LP and its candidates in the poll in the state.

Speaking with the New National Star at the weekend in Awka, the Anambra State capital, the leader of the widows in the State , Ms Hope Nwandu, said those who were sharing millions of naira to the wards in Anambra Central District where Obi and Umeh hail from to frustrate the victory of the LP in the district were attracting curses upon themselves.

Nwandu said, “As the 2023 general elections gather momentum, we, the widows, in Anambra State, have vowed to curse any body who will stand on the way of Senator Victor Umeh and former governor Peter Obi in the poll.

” Nothing will stop Senator Victor Umeh from winning the Central Senatorial poll come 2023 because he is a good man with capacity to make Anambra and Ndigbo proud in the senate. Anybody contesting the election against Umeh will have themselves to blame. We are in spirit the praying about this project.

“Those selfish people who are contesting against Umeh are just wasting their time. Where have they been, any time election comes, they start sharing money, cloths rice and other things, something Umeh does as a routine.

“After the elections , these ‘urban guerrilla’ politicians won’t pick their calls again. But Umeh has always been there for the down trodden, whether he is holding any political office or not.”

She said one of the senatorial candidates had started giving out one million naira to each ward in the Anambra Central Senatorial District, adding that it would be exercise in futility.

According to Nwandu, ” the mobilization of over 3,000 of our members is on and anybody who thinks he or she can truncate the people’s choice in that election will have us to contend with.

Umeh who was the former national chairman of APGA recently defected to LP in what he called a divine reunion with Peter Obi to prosecute the presidential bid of a Nigerian President of South-East extraction. Obi also dramatically dumped the PDP for LP after purchasing the former’s presidential nomination form of N40m.
