2023: Despite teargas horror from police, Obi supporters march round Abakaliki

A mammoth crowd Saturday morning marched round Abakaliki, the capital city of Ebonyi state, in support of Mr Peter Obi’s Presidential ambition.
The crowd marched defying all odds.
This was even as a team of policemen before 9:00 am shot canisters of tear gas at the Obedient supporters to disrupt the programme.
While the people scampered for safety they later regrouped and forged ahead with the rally.
While some who ran to Nkwegu Ugbala Grand Arena event center, Mile 50 took off from there, others who were locked up at the Pastoral center same Mile 50 which was the said venue for takeoff began theirs there.
The people matrched from Mile 50, through G.hostel junction to Presco University junction through the popular Spera N’ Deo to the ever busy Afikpo Road to Ogoja Road to Old Government House back to Mile 50.
As they chanted several songs in support of Obi, they marched gracefully causing traffick jam.
Some members of various political parties in Ebonyi state joined the movement, especially those of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). They were proudly shouting “we are Obedient” “we are for Peter Obi” and so on.
They earlier frowned at the order from the powers that be describing it as intimidation on harmless group.
A leader of Obinna Ukor support group, Mr Obinna Ukor and Ebonyi State Coordinator of Coalition for Peter Obi(CPO), Dr. John Agha while addressing journalists shortly after the march commended the Obi supporters for holding the rally.
He described as ill motivated the attempt to disrupt the rally by Policemen and urged the people to remain resolute in their support for Peter Obi, describing him as the only candidate that will take the country out of bad leadership.
