A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Peter Obi, has taken his 2023 campaigns to the United Kingdom.
It was gathered that Obi was in the UK on the invitation of the Prime Minister, Mr Boris Johnson.
A source who travelled with Obi , who craved anonymity in a message sent to our correspondent in Awka, Anambra State said, ” PDP leading Presidential hopeful, Mr. Peter Obi is in London Heathrow airport this morning. Okwute as he’s fondly called is in London, United Kingdom for a scheduled meeting with the UK Government.
“Mr Obi would be meeting with the UK Prime Minister and other high ranking officers of the UK at 10 Downing House.
“Recall that Obi lived in the UK for so many years and has solid establishments and businesses thriving in the United Kingdom even before full involvement in Nigerian politics.
“Somehow, this meeting happening in just matter of few days to the presidential primaries is an indicator of something; to inform the government of his preparedness to take it back, and to call for the support to the UK Government.
“There seems to be a gentlemanly agreement that’s going on lowkey in the background – in the favour of the man who many voluntarily want and are asking for, Peter Obi. Let’s hope the meeting turns out great.
One of the media aides to Obi, Daniel Elomba, confirmed the development.
He said, “A Nigerian taxi driver, Antony Erhunmwunse picked up His Excellency, PeterObi while he was waiting for a taxi in London today( Monday). He drove him free of charge to No 10 Downing Street where he was on the invitation of the British Prime minister.
