2023 Presidential Inauguration: PTC to Cordon-off federal secretariat complexes to beef-up security from Friday

As part of the programmes unveiled to mark the 2023 presidential inauguration ceremony of the swearing-in of President-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential Transition Council (PTC) has cordoned off federal secretariat complexes phases 1, 2, 3 and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to beef-up security.

These axis will be blocked by security operatives from 2:00pm on Friday 26th May to Monday 29th May 2023.

This announcement is contained in letter addressed to Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency; Secretary, National Judicial Council, Auditor-General of the Federation; Surveyor-General of the Federation; Directors -General/Chief Executive Officer of Parastatals and Agencies and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, for Head of the Civil Service of the Federation on Wednesday 24th May.

The letter read: “As you may be aware, the Presidential Transition Council (PTC) has unveiled the activities marking the 2023 Presidential Inauguration Ceremony. The inauguration parades and swearing-in of President-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu which is the climax of the programme with take place on Monday 29th May, 2023 at the Eagle Square, Central Business District, Abuja.

“In line with the security arrangements for the event, the Federal Secretariat Complexes Phases I, II, III and Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be cordoned off by security operatives from 2:00pm Friday 26th May to Monday 29th May, 2023.

“Accordingly, officers and intending visitors to the affected areas will not be allowed access till Tuesday 30th May, 2023, when work will resume in earnest”.
