2024 CHAN Will Be Co-Host by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda

The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) co-hosts, subject to the outcome of stadium inspections, are Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Following their September awarding of the organizing rights for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, the three East African nations decided to jointly host CHAN the following year. It is the first time that three countries have come together to host the continental competition, thanks to this historic alliance.

The joint hosts, each having one stadium for CHAN and another in Zanzibar, have disclosed that Wallace Karia, head of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa), will be their venue.

According to sources cited by BBC Sport Africa, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) has not yet received the official list of stadiums to be utilized for CHAN.

During the annual general meeting of the Tanzania Football Federation, Karia made the announcement. She emphasized the importance of the joint bid and stated that all four Cecafa teams would be drawn together for the event.

Originally set for 2020, the 2022 CHAN was moved to Algeria early this year to accommodate 17 teams following Morocco’s withdrawal amid disagreements over travel plans. Only athletes participating in their home leagues are allowed to enter the competition; Senegal won the championship.

As a crucial step toward hosting major football competitions on the continent, East Africa is getting ready to host the 2024 CHAN.
