Gov. Sule directs Council Leadership to hand over to DPMs

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has directed outgoing Chairmen of 13 Local Government Councils and overseers of 18 Development Areas to hand over power to their various Directors of Personnel Management.

Sule gave the directive on Thursday during a farewell meeting with the Chairmen and overseers at the Government House, Lafia, the State Capital.

Sule, who commended the outgoing leaders for their hard work and contributions in the governance of their various Councils, assured them that some of them may be called back to serve in transition Committees that would be constituted in no distant time.

The Governor who expressed worry over the challenge of the Councils not being able to pay the full salary of workers and pensions when due, said the government will not relent in her effort to break all obstacles concerning such.

Sule while advising the Chairmen not to feel bad due to comments that may be made by some people as they leave Office tomorrow, stated that those of them who may wish to re-contest when the time come is free to do so as no one has the Constitutional backing to block them from participating.

Earlier, the State ALGON Chairman, Aminu Muazu Maifata, who thanked the governor for his love and the confidence responded by giving them free hand to rule, said they have all learnt a lot from the governor that would not be easily forgotten.

Maifata who is the outgoing Chairman of, Lafia Local Government Council, pledged that the outgoing leaders will continue to pray for the governor to succeed in Office.

He, however, promised to make themselves available to serve in any capacity whenever their services are needed.

Our Correspondent gathered that the three years tenure of all the elected Chairmen and Councillors in the 13 Local Government Councils of the State will come to an end tomorrow being Friday, May 28, 2021.
