26,888 Students To Benefit From N730 Million Borno Scholarship

Professor Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State, has authorized N730 million in scholarships for 26,888 indigenous students enrolled in various educational institutions throughout the nation.

In a ceremony on Monday at the ministry’s Quality Assurance office’s Conference Hall, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, the state’s commissioner for education, science, technology, and innovation, formally gave the Borno State Scholarship Board the check for the sum on behalf of Governor Zulum.

Wakilbe clarified that 26,888 indigenous undergraduates are anticipated to benefit from the scholarship when it is completely implemented, promising that payment will start right away.

Additionally, the commissioner revealed that in 2024 alone, the Zulum-led government spent more than N8 billion on scholarships for students studying both within Nigeria and abroad.

He exhorted the pupils to put in a lot of effort to defend the government’s large educational investment.

In order to avoid transaction problems, the commissioner also instructed the students to make sure their bank information was correct. Failure to do so would result in funds being reallocated for other uses.

He pushed student leaders to utilize all of the resources at their disposal and urged the students to look into other options through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Governor Zulum’s steadfast dedication to education was acknowledged by Abdullahi Umara, National President of the National Union of Borno State Students (NUBOSS), who escorted the students to the ceremony.
