The greatest road network in Africa, named Dangote Refinery, honors the late Herbert Wigwe, the founder and group chief executive officer of Access Bank Holdings. Wigwe is a Nigerian business entrepreneur and the richest man in Africa.
Dangote made this announcement on Monday during his sympathy statement at the “Celebrating Herbert Wigwe-A Professional Legacy” memorial night in Lagos.
He said that the choice was to make Wigwe eternal.
“Herbert gave a lot of himself and was a perfectionist, role model, and visionary. Although he is no longer among us, his revolutionary contributions can still be observed in the social and economic spheres.
I’m honored to call him my brother, mentee, and loyal friend.
It’s hard to find another Herbert; I will always be grateful to him.
Despite never having enlisted, he is nonetheless deserving of the title of gallant and distinguished soldier.
“I have decided to name our major refinery and petrochemical road, out of the 120 kilometers, the biggest road will be named Herbert Wigwe, in honor of my beloved friend, brother, and mentee,” he declared.
Remember that the late Access Holdings Boss’s funeral arrangements had been disclosed by Wigwe’s family?
Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, son Chizi, and the late Abimbola Ogunbajo, the group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, perished in a tragic helicopter crash California, United States less than two months ago, on February 9 of this year.
