South-East APC approve suspension of FCC commissioner

The suspension of Mrs. Ginika Tor by the party’s Enugu State chapter was approved by the South East Zonal Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday.

Journalists in Enugu were given access to a statement on Tuesday that was personally signed by Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, National Vice Chairman of the APC South East.

Mrs. Tor is the Federal Commissioner to the Federal Character Commission who represents the State of Enugu.

Previous allegations of grave misconduct, anti-party actions, and an attempt to establish a rival executive branch of the party in the state led to the federal character commissioner’s suspension by the APC chapter in Enugu State.

Two petitions against Mrs. Tor were received by the State Executive Committee and forwarded to the party’s State Disciplinary Committee, which is chaired by Barr Vincent Chieyine.

Following its inquiry on the federal Commissioner’s charges, the Disciplinary Committee recommended, among other things, that she be suspended in a report that it gave to the State Executive Committee.

Following review of the report, the Enugu State Executive Committee overwhelmingly approved the Disciplinary Committee’s recommendations and condemned Mrs. Tor’s indefinite suspension.

Thus, on Tuesday, March 19, the South East Zonal Executive of the party convened at the Zonal Secretariat, No. 80 Nza Street, Independence Layout Enugu, where it officially reviewed the report of the Enugu State chapter suspending Mrs. Tor.

According to an Arodiogbu statement, “Recall that sometime around March 10, 2024, Mrs. Ginika Tor was involved in anti-party actions and made utterances intended to discredit, incite hostility, and mock the leadership of the APC Enugu and the Enugu State Executive.

In addition, she established a rival/factional State Executive Committee within the APC in the state of Enugu, which goes against Section 21:2 of the All Progressives Congress’s modified 2022 Constitution.

“The suspension of Mrs. Ginika Tor from the All Progressives Congress is hereby ratified by the South East Zonal Executive of the APC.”

The resolution endorsing the suspension of the federal character commissioner was copied to Sen. Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State and leader of the APC South East; Chief Emma Eneukwu, the APC Deputy National Chairman, South; and Chief Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology. Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje is the National Chairman of the APC.
