The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, or NiMet, has predicted sunshine and thunderstorms across the country.
A sunny sky was expected across the northern area on Friday for the whole of the forecast period, according to NiMet’s weather outlook announced in Abuja on Thursday.
The agency predicted sporadic thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening over portions of the states of Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna.
It stated that throughout the morning hours, clear skies with minimal cloud patches are anticipated across the North Central area.
Isolated thunderstorms are predicted to occur later in the day across portions of Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, and Kwara states.
“Though there is a potential of isolated thunderstorms over portions of Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states throughout the morning hours, the southern region should be cloudy with sunny periods. More cloud buildup is anticipated over the coastal parts.
Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are predicted over the South West Inland, which includes the coastal regions of Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states.
NiMet predicted that Saturday would be mostly bright with a few cloud patches over the North West and partly dry and sunny in the morning across the North East.
Later in the day, the agency predicted sporadic thunderstorms over portions of the states of Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, and Kaduna.
The agency states that in the morning, the North Central should be sunny with a few patches of cloud.
“Isolated thunderstorms are predicted to occur across sections of Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, and Kwara states as the day goes on.
There may be sunny spells in the southern region, but additional cloud buildup is anticipated over the coastal areas. Isolated thunderstorms could perhaps form in the morning over certain areas of Ogun state.
“Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states in the afternoon and evening period,” the statement stated.

Later in the day, the agency predicted sporadic thunderstorms over portions of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau states, and Nasarawa, Niger.
While there may be some sunny intervals in the southern region, further cloud buildup is predicted over the coastal areas in the morning.
Isolated thunderstorms are predicted to occur later in the day over areas of the states of Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Rivers, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, and Bayelsa.
In regions where thunderstorms are predicted to occur, strong winds may arrive before the rain. The public should use appropriate caution, it stated.
To plan their operations effectively, the agency advised airline operators to obtain the most recent weather data and forecasts from its office.
