Governor Abdullahi Sule is set to inaugurate a technical and advisory committee that will assist Nasarawa State towards the actualization of its oil and gas industry on Friday.

The Governor made this known while chatting with members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) who were on a working visit at the Government House on Thursday.

According to him, the committee is to be chaired by an expert in oil and gas who has worked for Chevron in Houston, Texas, who flew into the country to be part of the inauguration.

“We are bringing in people who are from the industry who are assisting the state. We are not bringing in politicians. We are bringing people who are purely oil and gas industry experts who are going to guide us,” he said.

Governor Sule disclosed that driven by the passion to see the oil and gas industry come to reality in the state, he has been closely monitoring the entire process starting from the seismic acquisition to the present ongoing drilling operations.

“From the little that we have been doing so far, we have been constantly engaging the contractors who are doing the drilling operations in the area. To know the challenges they are facing.

“Before the decision to go into drilling, we have been constantly in touch with those acquiring the seismic. When the seismic was sent for processing, we followed. We were constantly following up to make sure the processing was done. After the processing, we followed up on the interpretation also,” he added.

The Governor said he is bringing his experience in the oil and gas sector to bear in making sure that the drilling operations in Obi is successful.

“That is where the advantage of knowing some of those big companies in the industry comes into play. It gives me the opportunity to monitor and to know what is happening step by step as far as our oil and gas operation is concerned,” he stated.
