Delivering the food supplies to Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal in Gusau, the state capital, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), accompanied by Zonal Director Audu Ishaya, urged the government to take proactive steps to prevent flooding.
A second batch of agricultural products, weighing 6,160 bags of 50 kg maize, 12,040 bags of 50 kg sorghum, and 2,520 bags of 50 kg millet, were given to the Zamfara State Government to be distributed to the state’s fourteen local government areas’ underprivileged citizens.
The president has directed that twenty percent of the food items allotted to each local government be given to Ja’amatu Nasril Islam (JNI) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), with three percent going to boarding schools spread across the 14 local government areas, according to Dr. Ishaya Chinoko, representing NEMA.
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal thanked the federal government for its assistance to the state, emphasizing that the timing of the distribution is particularly important given the difficulties faced by banditry and the state’s recent economic measures.
