The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has issued a clarification to set the record straight on a recent operation against Boko Haram terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin. Contrary to previous reports, the MNJTF did not kill 70 terrorists or destroy five camps, as credited by some media outlets.
In a statement released on July 2, 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Chief Military Public Information Officer of the MNJTF, revealed that the operation was solely conducted by the Chadian Armed Forces within their territory in the Lake Chad Basin Area.
The Chadian military had announced the achievement during a press conference on June 30, 2024, and the MNJTF has apologized for any confusion caused by their previous press release.
The MNJTF has acknowledged the significant accomplishments of the Chadian forces in combating terrorism and has committed to providing clear and precise information to ensure proper attribution of military operations and their outcomes.
This clarification highlights the importance of accurate reporting and the need to recognize the achievements of the Chadian forces in the fight against Boko Haram.
