Mr Macaroni tells celebrities – “If trolls defame you, go to court instead of using police.”

Adebowale Adedayo, better known online as Mr. Macaroni, is a Nigerian comedian and actor. He has advised other celebrities who feel defamed by internet trolls to take legal action instead of using the police to “illegally” arrest or jail people.

He maintained that he had been falsely accused of being defamed multiple times by purported APC trolls, but he never pursued legal action.

He issued a warning, saying that it was “serious danger” to “illegally detain citizens” by the police.

The actor pleaded with his peers to refrain from “illegally detaining citizens” by means of their official connections.

Mr. Macaroni posted the following on his X handle: “Go to court and seek justice if someone insults you or defames your character.”

“APC trolls denigrate me and spread numerous lies about me. I have never, ever used the police to unlawfully detain or arrest someone, and I never will.

“Improperly detaining civilians by the police puts them in grave danger.

“I hope those of you who condone this misuse of authority won’t object when your family members or you become the victims.

To be clear, this does not condone harassment and bullying that occurs online. I vehemently detest it and think those responsible ought to be held accountable for their deeds.

Being a victim myself, I am aware of the psychological harm it may cause.

However, take legal action and pursue justice just like the rest of us.

“Avoid using your political connections to unlawfully hold someone in detention. Even while it works in your benefit right now, consider the day when you lose that power or the proximity to it.

It may be someone you care about instead of you. If everyone decides to enforce the law on their own, what will become of us?

The advise from Mr. Macaroni follows rumors that Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham detained an X user who purportedly wished for the death of her child.
