The MOUs focus on industries such green hydrogen, financial services, renewable energy, digital economy, aviation, and telecommunications.
In a brief statement posted on his X account on Tuesday, Sunday Dare, President Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Media and Public Communication, revealed that the two leaders made the revelation during the 11th meeting of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission.
He went on to say that both leaders concurred that in order to advance Africa, South Africa and Nigeria must increase their trade and investment ties.
Presidents Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and Bola Tinubu of Nigeria pledged in Cape Town to expedite important aspects of the Bi-National Commission in the more than 34 MOU areas, particularly in the fields of aviation, telecommunications, digital economy, renewable energy, financial services, and green hydrogen. According to the statement, both leaders concur that in order to propel Africa ahead, South Africa and Nigeria must deepen their trade and investment ties.
President Tinubu had previously traveled to South Africa for the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission conference, according to Naija News.
Earlier on Sunday, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, confirmed that the two leaders will talk about issues related to trade, mining and energy, manufacturing, social sector, banking and finance, defense and security, consular and migration, political consultations, and investments between Nigeria and South Africa.
