Troost-Ekong– Super Eagles won’t underrate opponents, ready to win title

William Troost-Ekong, the Super Eagles captain, has declared that the team is ready to capture a fourth Africa Cup of Nations championship in 2025.

At Monday night’s competition draw ceremony in Rabat, Éric Chelle’s team was placed in Group C alongside Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles, Uganda’s Cranes, and Tanzania’s Taifa Stars.

Troost-Ekong stated that the three-time champions must respect the other teams in their group.

The Saudi Arabian defender Al Kholood also stated that the Super Eagles had the ability to win the title after placing second last time in Cote d’Ivoire.

“The AFCON 2025 draw is now complete; it’s quite thrilling to see the groupings. Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania. Three teams that should be respected.” Troost-Ekong informed the Super Eagles media.

“I believe we now have the necessary experience to manage situations like these. There are no easy games in Africa anymore. That is common knowledge now.

“However, I feel we have what it takes to emerge from this group and this time go the distance. We learned a lot last year in the AFCON in Abidjan.

“This time, we’ll be more prepared and work hard all year to ensure that everyone is fit and ready.

“We’re looking forward to playing under the new coach. An exciting year ahead, and I’m really pleased with the AFCON draw.”
