By Funso Ojo

Fear has gripped political appointees in Ondo state as the state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is set to dissolve his cabinet any moment from now.

This is coming ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the 2nd term of the governor in few days.

So a lot of political appointees and commissioners who are not sure of being re-appointed has been running from pillar to poll, going from mountains to mountains and consulting spiritual homes and some of them have resulted to sending Emmensaries to strong political leaders across the state to retain their position.

The governor in his wisdom has appointed 7 members appointments selection Transition Committee in which Dare Aragbaye was appointed as the chairman of the committee while the son of the Governor, Babajide Akeredolu will serve as the Secretary of the committee.

To select, to screen and consider appointable people to the new administration.

This has further demonstrated the resolved of the governor that there is going to be a completely new face of the 2nd term of the governor.

Governor Akeredolu is also trying to Democraticze selection of political appointees in his 2nd term and may likely do away with most of the Commissioners and political appointees or retain some of them as the case may be.

This will also allow interested party members and leaders who are interested in the political post to approach the committee for their inclusion in a political position in the incoming administration.

The setting up of the committee will also provide a broad base for any party members to be given consideration since there is no fraction in the party now unlike before, while there is Aketi group, Unity forum and Kekemeke group and so on.

Now that the party is one, the arrangement will allow strong party members to contribute meaningfully to the party affairs and some will get board appointment, unlike the 1st term administration.

And the coming in of Chief Jimoh Ibrahim to the party will also have an impact in the new administration as he is likely to have a strong footing in the party being the chairman of the building of new Secretariat of the party across the 18 local government area of the state, with that he is already having a close tap on the governor.
