Nigerians Not Worried About COVID-19, Survey Shows

A recent social media survey conducted by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has revealed that less Nigerians are worried about the coronavirus.

The survey which was conducted on Twitter on Monday had 989 votes. 64.3 per cent voted “not worried” while 35.7 per cent went for “really worried”.

One Nigerian on the application, Tunde, said, “Worrying is an infection deadlier than COVID-19 itself.” Another user, Annette expressed vexation. “See where we are now guys, no one cares anymore so we all move mad! Stop being a Covididot #useyourmaskalways.”

Awareness campaigns about the virus have persisted for a period of twelve months now but attitudes towards the disease varies with some insisting that the virus is a hoax.

So far, 146,728 people have been confirmed with having the virus in the country and 1,761 people have died due to complications arising from infections, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control reports.
