Prayers Can Change The Country – CLO

Chairman Civil Liberties Organization, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, has called on Nigerians to rededicate themselves selflessly to the service of God and humanity in order to make our bad good, our good better and our better best.

Ezekwueme, a Human Rights Activist and Public Affairs Analyst made the remarks when Executive members of Anambra Moralist Organisation and Southeast Educational Vanguard visited him to facilitate with him on his birthday.

He lamented that there is no cause for celebration in view of deluge of killings, herders -farmers clashes, banditry, kidnapping and unknown gunmen causing deaths, nightmare, horrendous havoc and terror in all parts of the country.

There urgent and ineluctable need to embark on fervent and radical praying to entrust the security challenges facing the country, peaceful conduct of Anambra November 6th governorship election, unconditional release of all abducted students and Nigerians especially Leah Sharibu, repentance of all those terrorising the country and restoration of absolute peace, unity, tranquillity, love, tolerance and empathy in the country.

I wish to appeal to our revered Catholic Bishops Conference to reenact prayer of Nigeria in Distress which they introduced in 1998 during June 12th cries and crisis which God answered through divine intervention and peace and normalcy was mysteriously restored in the country.

The Civil Society Organisations must wake from their shell and be prepared more than ever before to right the wrongs of the society for according to Pope Francis, when one suffers directly, everyone suffers indirectly in addition to postulation of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, we are murderers the moment we see evil and fail to speak against it.

We start dying the moment allowed evil to triumph over good. Life is not worth living unless, it is lived for others. The greatest birthday gift I expect from Nigerians is for us to live, work, love think, give, and share to others in order to make Nigeria work again and actualise the lofty goals of our founding fathers Ezekwueme posited.
