The Apetumodu of Ipetumodu in Ife North Local Government area of Osun State, Oba (Prof) Olufunminiyi Olugbenga Oloyede, Latimogun 1, has called on the newly inaugurated history committee to oversee the proposed comprehensive history of Ipetumodu city to be up and doing and make sure that the decision adds more value.
The Apetumodu made this call on Saturday while inaugurating the committee for the proposed comprehensive history of the town held at Ipetumodu City Hall.
According to the Apetumodu who was highly elated for the development, the decision of putting the committee in place is to see the ancient Ipetumodu city maintaining her position on the world map.
The traditional ruler who described the Chairman of the committee, Prof Tayo Adesina as a man of honour and erudite Professor of History, in the Department of History, University of Ibadan, Oyo State said the committee will definitely work assiduously in executing the community assignment before them beyond expectation.
Oba Oloyede, further enjoined the entire residents of the community to continue to pray for the success of Ipetumodu Development Forum (IDF) home and abroad and the committee while they should demonstrate their unflinching support to them whenever it’s required.
The Monarch who appreciated residents of the community for their unalloyed support to him admonished them to be law-abiding and always work for the upliftment of the community.
In their remark, the IDF who was represented by the General Secretary, Mr Kehinde Oyetunmbi noted that, with the calibre of members of the committee, history that will be widely accepted by all and sundry with the generations yet unborn shall be delivered by them.
Similarly, the Goodwill messages from other stakeholders at the colourful and well-attended inauguration ceremony emphasised on the need for complete cooperation of the stakeholders for the success of the exercise.
Part of the activities marking the event were: Inauguration of the committee, handing over of the materials purchased for the exercise, workshop for the stakeholders, etc.
Also in attendance at the inauguration of the history committee includes, the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Apetumodu Chiefs, Baale of some communities within the city, I.P.U Executive, Religion leaders, Heads of compounds, I.D.F family and Field researchers among others.
Meanwhile, the committee members are Prof Tayo Adesina — Chairman, Elder Femi Olajide JP,
Prof.Israel Ogunlade, Prof. Augustus Adeyinka, Dr.Rahamon Adeyinka, Rev(Dr) Lekan Olajide, Lady Jemiriye Adeniji, and Mr Kazeem Ogungbemi.
