The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Ondo State Chapter have commended Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state for his efforts in flushing out cultism in Ondo Universities.
The leadership of the students stated this during their courtesy visit to the Commands Headquarters of Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun).
The student body also expressed its readiness to synergise with the state government to combat crime among youths in the state.
The Ondo State NANS Chairman, Comrade Oluwaferanmi Omotosho also commended the governor for his dogged way of advertising insecurity in the state.
He said the government’s effective ways of flushing out cultism of the Ondo State universities have been wonderful and have brought peace and safety to campuses in the state.
He thanked Mr Governor for creating Amotekun in the state and giving core adequate equipment to combat crimes in the society.
In a related development, Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA has honoured the Commander Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye with “Award of Excellence”.
The award presentation was part of the activities marking the 11th Annual Lecture of the School of Environmental Technology, at the Theodore Ibibiye Francis Hall, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).
The lecture titled: “Ethics in the Professions: The Challenges of Contemporary Professional Practice was delivered by Victor Adekunle Alonge.
The university said assumption into office Chief Adeleye as Amotekun boss has led to a great reduction in the cases of kidnapping, banditry, farmer-herder clashes, armed robbery and many other vices in the State.
Responding, Chief Adetunji Adeleye thanked the Governor of Ondo State for providing enabling environment in carrying out his duties as well as the organiser of the award for counting him worthy to be honoured.
He vowed to continue to provide his security expertise in making sure criminals have no hidden place in Ondo State.
”I owe this to the support and cooperation of the good people of Ondo State, especially His Excellency, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State for the support given to us to perform as an agency.
