No fewer than 236 youths have been trained in videography by a former minister of aviation and the Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Princess Stella Oduah.
The trainees who were drawn from each of the seven local government areas in her Senatorial District were trained at the Film Academy of the Anambra State Broadcasting Service, Awka, Anambra State.
Speaking during their graduation ceremony on Tuesday, Oduah who was represented by an aide, Iwuchukwu Samuel, said she was passionate about human capital development, stating that she had trained a huge number of youths in her constituency.
She said,“I believe in human capital development and because job are not there, I believe that if you have skills, you can use it to fulfill your dreams and also be self-sufficient.
“These graduands have passion for the courses they read, but didn’t have the resources to make their dreams come through, so we only facilitated their coming to here to fulfill that passion..
“We picked 100 persons from all the seven local government areas in the northern zone, but of course, some people couldn’t graduate. I want to announce that it does not just end here, we have plans to employ some of them who studied broadcast journalism in Buwa TV, which is one of our establishments on Startimes.
“All that you need to practicalise what you have learnt is in Buwa TV. For those who will seek greener pastures elsewhere, we wish you the very best in life.”
The Rector of ABS Film Academy, Mr Gab Okpalaeze congratulated the graduands on successfully completing the course.
He said, “We thank Senator Oduah who has successfully taken these number of young people out of the streets by giving them skills. We are also working to partner with other politicians to ensure that every youth in Anambra is trained.
“Already, the Anambra State government through the office of the Special Adviser on youth affairs had reached out to us, and more people will be trained this time when the next session commences.”
