Chief Edward Nkwegu, popularly known as EDON, was Tuesday elected governorship candidate of Ebonyi Labour Party for the 2023 general election.
He who was elected unopposed at the party headquarters along Abakaiki Enugu highway.
Edon has been a two-time candidate of the party in the 2015 and 2019 general elections.
The primary election was conducted by a national officer of the party, Mrs. Oluchi Okpara, who was also the returning officer of the exercise.
Nkwegu in his brief speech thanked the delegates of the party for the confidence reposed in him.
He boasted that Labour Party will win the state in 2023.
Meanwhile, a former House of Reps member and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Linus Abaa Okorie, a governorship Aspirant of the PDP, Chief Eze Emmanuel, a Chieftain of the party, Anselem Enigwe, former Commissioner for Education in the state, Prince Chibuez Agbo have defected to Labour Party.
While Okorie is the Ebonyi South Senatorial candidate of the party, Enigwe, Eze, and Agbo are Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates of LP for the 2023 general elections.
The candidates witnessed the election of Nkwegu as the governorship candidate of the Labour Party.
