Leave LP alone, Civil Society Groups tell DSS, others

Amalgamation of civil society groups led by James Okoronkwo on Friday asked the Department of State Services DSS, and other security agencies to stay clear of the activities of the Labour Party and play a neutral role as specified in Nigeria’s statute laws.

In a press statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Okoronkwo laments that the Labour Party which made an impressive outing in the last election has been under occupation by security agencies making it impossible for its members to gain access to the party Secretariat.

He said, the party chairman, Julius Abure has also been been rendered redundant haven been framed up on trump charges saying “he remains a victim of political intimidation, abuse of power by the state”.

” All these are attempts to weaken the party so it might not be able to pursue its matter at the election tribunal” he maintains.
The civil society groups also said, it has absolute confidence on the leadership of the party based on the moral, competence to pull Nigeria out from the doldrums.
