Management of Federal Medical Centre Keffi, keffi Local Government Area , Nasarawa State said it is working towards upgrading the standard of the hospital to a Five Star state of the art hospital
The revelation was made known to journalists by Esther Bature the Head Public Relations Office during media tour of facilities in the FMC on Wednesday.
Some of the newer projects under construction and some completed by the current administration of the Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director Dr Yahay Baba Adamu, who is now enjoying his second tenure in office includes the expansion of Oxygen Plant, that is piped into the ICU , SPU , the theater, isolation centre and the Accident and Emergency unit.
According to Engineer Kelvin Dapul “The newly built oxygen plant functions 24 hours and the consumption rate each day is 35 cylinders apart from supply to other hospital.
Under construction is a 126 beds ward which is at 60% completed. The project was awarded for construction in January 2022 and shall be completed by first month of 2024.
New National Star report that one of the newest facility of international standard in the Federal Medical Centre is the Hemodialysis centre under the department of internal medicine.
Speaking, the head of the unit , Mrs Francisca Kama told journalists the center runs diagnoses for patients with kidney challenges and that they attend to not less than 50 person on average basis monthly” We have Four Dialysis machines and a water unit.
The FMC keffi on it target to attain a five star hospital awarded for the construction of a Twin Modular ward to be completed in December. Still on it stride to to attaining international standard.Others are a multi specialist clinic and an isolation centre.
Also speaking Esther Bature, the public relations officer said the aim of the media tour to facilities was to showcase the achievements of the Medical Director , Dr Yahaya Adamu .
” So far and while there is plan on ground to move to the permanent site , which already construction of some facilities are ongoing there , there is need for expansion here.
” Let me add here that the administration of Dr Yahaya Adamu is focusing on achieving a five star hospital, hence the expansions you have seen and that does not stop the ongoing projects at out permanent site” She said.
