The government of Abia state has made it mandatory for all Abia civil servants and public servants to be captured into Abia state social Identity Number (ABSSIN).
This was made known in a press release signed by Mrs. Adaeze Ralph Igbokwe, the public Relations Officer for the state Head of Service and made available to newsmen in Umuahia.
Abia number one civil servant, Sir Onyi Wamah, disclosed this in his office when he kicked off the Abia state social Identity Number (ABSSIN)Â for Abia civil servants organized by the Abia state government in collaboration with Appmart integrated limited in his office.
According to the head of service, “henceforth registration/acquisition of the Abia state social Identity Number (ABSSIN) will be determinant for the payment of salaries of civil/Public servants in the state”.
Sir Onyi Wamah disclosed that it’s a must for all civil/public servants in the state, adding that the exercise is expected to last for thirty-one days from the date the state Head of Service enrolled into the scheme, which was August, 10th,2021.
The head of service urged civil/public servants to prioritize their enrollment into ABSSIN as the government will provide Desk officers in the respective MDA’s and local government Headquarters to make the exercise accessible and easy for the workers.
In her own contribution, the Executive Secretary/Permanent Secretary, Abia state planning commission, Dr.(Mrs.) Nnenna Chikezie, explained that ABSSIN will to a great extent assist the government in ascertaining the actual number of the workforce in the state with a view to providing more job opportunities for its citizenry.
