Academic activities were on Wednesday obstructed in Nasarawa State University, Keffi due to the death of a 200 level student of Mass Communication that was crushed to death by a car, near the university , precisely at angwan Lambu, a student village in Keffi , of keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Reliable sources said the deceased student, Adama Abdulrahaman was hit by the vehicle at about 7: 40 am , on her way to the school to write her exams.
The management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, in a statement signed by the Information and Protocol Officer, Vomrade Abraham Ekpo, stated that the management of Nasarawa State Unibersity has received with deep shock and sadness the passing away of Ms. Adama Abdulrahman, a 200-level student of the Department of Mass Communication on Wednesday 18th January 2023 due to a motor accident on her way to school to write an examination.
Management of the University under the leadership of Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed wishes to commiserate with family, friends, entire students and close associates of the late Adama on this painful and unfortunate incident that took her life in her prime.
” The management also wishes to reiterate that it is taking every measure possible to ensure the safety of students so that such an unpleasing incident does not happen again, furthermore, management will follow up with the law enforcement agents to see that the culprit behind this accident will be made to face the full wrath of the law so as to serve as a deterrent to anybody that will commit such an offense.
“Management while urging students to remain calm and steadfast wishes to assure them that safety measures to regulate speed by motorists along the University corridor are being put in place by the relevant authorities.
Also, the Dean of Students Affairs , Dr Abdullahi Madibbo in an interview told newsmen on Thursday that it is filing a case in court for the prosecution of the driver.
Dr Madibbo, condoled the family of late Adama Abdulrahaman the 200 level student , he said the university management took responsibility of the deceased burial which was performed according to Islamic faith on Wednesday.
” It is heartbreaking and sad , however management has taken far reaching steps that will prevent future occurrence .In fact we saw this coming when the road realization was ongoing and swiftly wrote to the authority responsible to allow for the constructions of bumps that was since last year.
” But as I speak to you we have gotten the approval a d funds are released to that effect, we are only waiting for the director of high ways to give us the designed of the bumps to be constructed ” He added.
On his part, the president of the Student Union Government, Jonathan Ayenajim Gbefwi said it was a moody day for students of NSUK who saw and heard of the death of Adama.
