Adada state remains oldest state request from South east, says Rep Obetta

As the National Assembly continues to deliberate on several bills for the creation of additional states in the country, Hon. Chidi Obetta, representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, has declared that Adada State would be the first to be created from the South East region.
It would be recalled that the quest for the creation of Addada state has always been in the pipeline for over 50 years, before the military creation of additional states in the country
Hon. Obetta whoo emphasized this when he spoke at his 2nd Town Hall Meeting at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, regretted that Nsukka Province remains the only old province yet to attain statehood, despite its significant population and landmass.
He disclosed his co-sponsorship of a bill to amend the 1999 Constitution to effect the creation of Adada State, emphasizing that the demand has been supported by the South East since 1979.
“If there is any state that should be created from the South East, the first should be Adada State. Since 1979, the people of South East have endorsed the creation of Adada State. If you look at it, Nsukka is the only old province that has not become a state,” he stated.
The representative whose performance  at the national assembly was appraised by his constituents at the Town Hall Meeting, reiterated his commitment to legislative actions focused on economic growth, job creation, poverty reduction, and development projects benefiting his constituency.
He explained  that his key legislative initiatives, includrd,: A bill to establish a Federal Medical Centre at Obukpa (progressed to final passage consideration).
A bill to establish a Federal Vocational and Skill Acquisition College in Ibagwa-Aka, Enugu State.
A bill to establish a Swine Research Institute in Okpuje-Nsukka.
Amendments to the Medical and Dental Practitioners, as well as a bill to amend the 1999 Constitution and create Adada State, which was co-sponsored with other lawmakers from Enugu State.
The occasion was graced by Traditional rulers, clergy, party leaders, and student bodies who praised Obetta’s representation,  even as they urged intensified efforts towards the creation of Adada State.
