The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has been challenged by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to hold local government elections if she believes the All Progressives Congress (APC) is popular among the people and if she also has good intentions for the youth.
This was said by the ADC in a statement that its National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Chilos Godsent, provided to reporters.
A democratic local government council system in Imo State has the potential to economically and politically empower over 10,000 youths, including the rapid development of rural communities and a sharp decline in crime rates, as stated in the statement “ADC threw this challenge knowing fully well.”
“It is very unfortunate and unacceptable to note that since the past 16 years now previous and present government of Imo State has used local government caretaker committees, transition committees, and sole administrators as a conduit pipe to arbitrarily and recklessly enhance their looting of the local government council funds.
“Finally, ADC is committed to lead the struggle for regime change in Imo State.”
“It is very regrettable and unacceptable to note that for the past sixteen years, the Imo State government, both past and present, has arbitrarily and recklessly increased their looting of the local government council funds by using caretaker committees, transition committees, and sole administrators as conduit pipes.
“ADC is finally determined to spearhead the fight for Imo State’s regime change.”
