Akinwunmi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), has expressed his delight at the outcome of the recently concluded United States of America presidential elections. The result which crowned Joe Biden as president-elect and Kamala Harris as vice president-elect, both members of the democratic party.
Adesina tweeted, “I congratulate @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris on your historic election as President and Vice President of the United States. I look forward to working closely with you and your Administration to accelerate Africa’s development. May God bless America. May God bless Africa.
Adesina who recently was re-elected as president of AfDB was earlier accused of corrupt practices and an independent enquiry was launched which found him innocent yet the US disagreed with the results till another investigation was conducted.
The US elections ended November 3rd although it has taken four days of count to decide the final results. Donald Trump, who is incumbent president, accused that the polls were rigged and has threatened to sue at the Supreme Court. Critics, however, accuse the president of crying wolf
