The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 11, Bassey Ewah, has charged officers of the Osun State Police Command to uphold discipline, professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

Ewah gave the charge during a familiarization visit to the command headquarters in Osogbo.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), Zone 11 Headquarters, Osogbo, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ojedele Tunji, the visit was part of the AIG’s efforts to understand the operational structure, personnel and security situation within his area of responsibility, which covers Osun and Oyo states.

Addressing officers and men of the command, Ewah stressed the need for dedication, hard work and strict adherence to professional standards.

He also urged them to maintain an acceptable dress code, follow operational rules and uphold the ethics of the Nigeria Police Force in their official engagements.

The AIG said discipline was the foundation of effective policing and called on personnel to act in ways that would strengthen public confidence, improve operational efficiency and protect the image of the force.

He further emphasised the need for honesty, integrity and accountability, urging officers to reflect these values in the performance of their duties.

The State Commissioner of Police (CP), Ibrahim Zungura, welcomed Ewah and described him as a go-getter and a role model whose commitment to achieving results was reflected in his prompt visit shortly after assuming duty.

He commended the AIG for what he described as a proactive approach to understanding the security situation in his area of responsibility.

The Commissioner also briefed Ewah on the state and its security situation, assuring him that the command would sustain the prevailing peace and tranquillity.

He pledged that officers and men of the command would intensify efforts to maintain law and order, protect lives and property, and ensure the safety of residents.
