Ondo State’s acting governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was sworn in as the state’s substantive governor on Wednesday morning, December 27, following the unexpected death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
In a ceremony held soon after the news of Governor Akeredolu’s passing emerged, Mr. Aiyedatiwa was sworn in by the Chief Judge of Ondo State.
This news was leaked mere hours before it was announced that Mr. Aiyedatiwa would take the oath of office today. Since recent weeks, when Governor Akeredolu’s health began to deteriorate, the state has been waiting in suspense.
It is anticipated that Mr. Aiyedatiwa, a former deputy governor under Governor Akeredolu, will speak to the Ondo State populace in the near future.
