Akume’s kinsmen hold thanksgiving service over appointment

·          Immediate past Chairman of  Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr Akpen Leva yesterday held thanksgiving service in honour of Secretary to the Government of the federation (SGF), George Akume and his wife, Regina Akume supported by other prominent Tiv sons as well as daughters in the diaspora.

·          The church service according to the organisers of the event, informed that it was to thank God for the elevations to the exalted office in the country.

·          It was discovered that the initiatives put together by the former CAN Chairman who is also his kinsman and a pastor with one the formidable protestant church known as NKST.

·            The occasion was held on Sunday at  Wannune, the headquarters of Tarka local government which received overwhelming attendance including the The Tor – Tiv the fifth and other notable Nigerians who attended the occasion which was attended by a large number of people.

·          Preaching during the service, the immediate past President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Benue State Chapter, Rev. Pastor Akpen Leva who preached on the topic “What Can I Give to God?” likened the story of Senator Akume’s political rising to that of King David in the Bible who faced serious betrayal, treachery and even assassination attempts on his way to greatness.

·          Pastor Akpen said the Benue APC leader is blessed with a large heart and his generosity and ability to forgive and embrace those who offend him are unique qualities that have set him apart for greatness.

·          Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the occasion, Dr Leemon Ikpea who was represented by Sen. Dr Jack Tilley-Gyado, eulogised Sen. Akume for his patriotism, humility, charity and love for the people. The Chairman appealed to the people to continue to pray for the SGF and his family.

·         Sen. Gyado particularly used the occasion to thank Sen. Akume on behalf of the Kunav people for engineering the victory of their son, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia to become Governor, saying the Kunav people deeply acknowledge the unequalled role played by the North Central APC leader in making the  Kunav Governorship quest a reality.

·           The Father of Kunav politics and second republic senator made it public once again that Sen. Akume is the vehicle God used to elevate their son, Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Alia to the position of Governor and pledged that Kunav nation will forever be grateful to the SGF.

·          Earlier speaking, the Chairlady of the occasion, Sen. Binta Garba Mashi extolled the qualities of Sen. George Akume as a man filled with the spirit of humility and kind-heartedness. She explained that Sen. Akume has remained her role model and support system from the day they first met, calling on the church and everyone to always pray and support him and his family.

·          The Special guest of honour and  2023 presidential aspirant, Tein Jack-Rich, represented by  comrade Austin Agada, APC Chairman, Benue state thanked the church for choosing to celebrate and thank God for the life of the SGF and his family.

·          In his address, the Executive Governor of Benue state, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, represented by the Head of Service, Dr Moses Agbogbo Ode, acknowledged the good leadership qualities of Sen. Akume and his wife.

·          The governor also acknowledged the impact of Sen. Akume on his life as a person and his service to the state praying God to elevate him to higher positions of authority.

·          In her vote of thanks, wife of the leader and co-celebrant, Mrs Regina Akume thanked the Church for their support and prayers for her family.

·          The Honourable Member representing Gboko/ Tarka Federal Constituency extended her heartfelt apologies to the church for the absence of her husband at the occasion due to the ECOWAS Emergency Session that was held at the Villa yesterday but pledged that the family would monitor and support the church project to its full completion.
