The governors of Benue and Nasarawa have decided to solve the food crises and insecurity while simultaneously luring investments to spur economic growth in their respective states.
The governors have pledged to reassess current tactics in order to reduce homicides and enhance food production and sustainability in both states.
Speaking to reporters following a private meeting in Lafia with his counterpart from Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State revealed that both states have implemented extensive measures to promote peaceful coexistence and enhance prospects for solid mineral and agricultural growth.
He claimed that they looked at further strategies to help both states.
Alia called the states of Nasarawa and Benue “one family,” adding that there is no reason for the two to experience hunger, insecurity, or a lack of long-term economic growth.
In order to promote growth in both states, the governor also emphasized the necessity of ongoing strategy revisions.
“North Central Nigeria is home to the states of Nasarawa and Benue,” stated Alia. Benue has abundant agricultural resources, and Nasarawa is rich in solid minerals.
As conflicts between farmers and herders, communal problems, banditry, and neighboring states have persisted and contributed to a bad narrative, we are investigating potential solutions.
“Aside from just being friendly, I’m in Nasarawa State to look for ways to support unity and proper economic positioning, especially in light of the hardships our people are currently facing.”
Although praising the development initiatives in Nasarawa State, the governor of Benue indicated interest in implementing some of the initiatives in his own state.
In the upcoming months, the two states—which have a lot in common in the North Central region—will profit from each other’s progress, according to Nasarawa Governor Sule.
“Your visit to Nasarawa State will strengthen the working relationship and put an end to the killings that are occurring on a daily basis. It will also improve on infrastructure development and food production, which are two areas of Nigeria that are known for.” he stated.
“I want to reassure you that Benue and Nasarawa State will remain at the forefront of promoting peace, stability, and growth throughout the nation, not just in the North Central region.”
