Alleged Money Laundering: Court Grants Lawyer’s Application To Withdraw Representation

Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday, granted a request by Mr. Ademola Adedipe, counsel to Common Input Property and Investment Limited to withdraw from representing the company in the trial involving former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Mr. Abulrasheed Maina.

At the resumed trial in Abuja on Thursday, Justice Okon Abang in a bench ruling granted the lawyer’s application to withdraw from the case on the ground that he is yet to be paid for his services and is unable to locate Mr. Maina who engaged him to represent the company listed as the second defendant in the case.

Mr. Maina, a former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task team is being tried in absentia having jumped bail for alleged two billion naira fraud and money laundering offences.

Adedipe, engaged by the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abulrasheed Maina in his ongoing trial for money laundering, had applied to quit the case on 24th November 2020.
