One of the frontline aspirant of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA and a Lawmaker representing Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra State, Hon. Chukwuma Michael Umeoji, has declared that only delegates will decide between him and ex-CBN Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, who had declared to join the Governorship race.
Umeoji, who addressed journalists at the premises of the Anambra State House of Assembly, after a consultative meeting with the State Lawmakers of APGA extraction, to inform them of his intention to contest the November 6, governorship election.
Umeoji said anybody who has been following the trajectory of the party since inception will know that the APGA as a corporate movement has never emphasised on consensus.
He noted that aspirants should lure delegates by what they can offer, as he for one was not afraid of competition.
He said: “I am optimistic that APGA as the third-largest political party in Nigeria will retain power in Anambra state through me.
According to Umeoji, Party Primaries in a democratic government is about choice, the delegates determine who will fly the party ticket. The delegates will have to weigh their options.
“So. I am not afraid to contest the Primaries with Professor Soludo and others, who are also aspiring to fly the APGA ticket.
“My purpose of contesting the all-important election, is to continue from the good work, Governor Willie Obiano, has done so far to Ndi-Anambra.
He noted that since APGA came into power 16 years ago in Anambra State, the party has grown to become a formidable party and united to defeat any political party to continue its good governance for the people of the state.
He passed a vote of confidence on Governor Willie Obiano, in the fight against COVID-19 spread in the state.
While commending the Lawmakers for their support and the stakes for APGA in the November 6, election, Umeoji requested for prayers, advice and guidance of members as he continues consultation with other relevant stakeholders.
Members in their contributions and vote of thanks, thanked Honourable Umeoji for the visit and expressed their expectations when he becomes Governor of Anambra State.
