Anambra Poll: S/Court affirms Soludo’s APGA candidacy

The Supreme Court, yesterday, declared the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the authentic governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA.
The former CBN Boss, emerged from the primary election that was organized by the Chief Victor Oye-led faction of the party.
By the judgement, the apex court returned Chief Victor Oye as the national chairman of the party.
The Supreme Court agreed that the election of officers of political officers was an internal affairs of respective parties and cannot be challenged in court.
The Justice Mary Odili led five-man panel, had in a unanimous decision held that the appeal was an abuse of court process and lacking merit and substance.
Consequently, the Apex court awarded a sum of one million naira against the applicant, Jude Okeke to be paid to APGA and Victor Oye.
In the judgement, the supreme court upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal sitting in Kano, which has earlier squashed the suit instituted by Jude Okeke, adding that the plaintiff attempted to mislead the court through multiple cases over the same subject matters.
According to the court, Jude Okeke, moved the cases from Anambra state to Imo and later to Jigawaa state, which amounts to abuse of the court process.
The plaintiff got the victory with the Jigawa court decision, which was however voided and set aside by the Court of Appeal, Kano division on March 8, 2021, on the ground that the high court of Jigawa lacked jurisdiction to have entertained the suit.
Justice Odili upheld the Court of Appeal decision that the Jigawaa high court lacked jurisdiction and the setting aside of the court’s finding.
