Anambra PDP Guber Primary: Maduka warns against Monetary Inducement

One of the frontline aspirants for the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the coming November 6, Anambra state governorship election, and, multi-billion-dollar America-based medical practitioner, Dr. Godwin Maduka has advised delegates to the party’s guber primary to shun monetary inducement, but, select someone who has the capacity to develop the state.

He told newsmen in his Dr Godwin Maduka Foundation office in Awka, the state capital on Sunday that though he has more money to buy the delegates than any of his other 15 co-contestants for the PDP ticket can afford, he deliberately embarked on a voter education tour during which he met the party members at the 21 local governments, and, warned against voting for someone based on the amount of money he or she gave, but, on the conviction that such person has the capacity to transform the state if elected governor.

He promised that if elected governor, 50 percent of funds his administration will deploy to run the state will be sourced from Overseas.

“Vote buying is not democracy, it is not even civilisation. I want a stop to be put to this undemocratic practice in Anambra.

“It is who can move this state (Anambra) to the next level in education, health, agriculture, air, land, and sea transport; in technology, Security,
All these I have planned that from the day one I take over as Governor, people will see what I will do”, Maduka promised.

Stating that he has millions of US-dollar worth of investments in several developed countries in the world, especially in America, United Kingdom, Australia, etc.

“I desire to make Anambra a dignified State of the art facilities in all sectors of the economy, yes is doable, that is my reason to come into politics, to transform the state with my gained wealth of knowledge acquired over 40 years of my sojourn in the western world.

“I have only been out of the state for 10 years out of my 40 years outside the state, I am homegrown, I know the pain and hardship my people live in, I mingled and still mingling with the poor, very poor and poor of poorest, I can change their narrative through good governance if given the chance to serve, please my dear delegates save the state from total collapse, give me your vote on June 26, you won’t regret it,” he assured.

the pain expert promised further, “As Governor I will solicit for funds from Oversea countries because the money we will use for the kind of things I want to do in this state, Abuja cannot afford it, and, our IGR (Internally Generated Revenue) cannot touch it”.

He stated for instance, that his administration will make sure that River Niger is dredged from the A to Z to Onitsha, as part of its deliberate programme to boost not only the economic base of the state but, South East region at large.

He particularly commended the leader of PDP in the state, former state governor and Vice-presidential candidate of the party in the last general election, Mr. Peter Obi, and, chairman of the party in the state, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu for their efforts in ensuring that candidate of the party was chosen from a free, fair and transparent primary, but, urged the party to ensure that such candidate was picked from the South senatorial zone,
He urged the party leaders to ensure that PDP gets back its seat of governance in Anambra through conducting a primary that would be transparent and fair to all concern.

Maduka appealed further to the party leaders not to show favouritism to any of the aspirants but see all as qualified aspirants but that only the more qualified aspirant that would take the flag of the party for the Nov6 election.

He said that aspirants that are from the South senatorial zone of the state should be made to stand for the primary as equity and fair play demands.

“If PDP really wants to take back their rightful political seat in Anambra their candidate should come from South, any deviation from such choice the party will lose the governorship election.” I pray PDP do not kill their chance of winning the election by not given South the chance to govern”.

“I am confident that the peace and understanding existing in PDP leadership structure will be wise enough to do the right bidding and take their seats.

“I am most qualified out of all the qualified aspirants so I appeal to PDP delegates to vote wisely on June 26, vote Maduka for transformation.

Maduka has a triple professorship in Medical Science, Pain Management and Surgery from Touro University, Nevada.

He is a crusader of religious tolerance.

He has built over 100 homes for indigent widows, trained over 60 lawyers, numerous graduates in different field of life.

Maduka earned Okosisi Orumba based on his philanthropic nature and Ijele Igbo because his philanthropy cut across the state.
