A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Godwin Ezeemo, has decried the steady decline of basic infrastructure in Anambra state.
He described Awka, the capital of the state as a glorified local government that lacked the status of the state capital. Addressing party faithful in Awka, Ezeemo also blamed the prevalent exodus of residents of the state to the absence of basic necessities of life.
He argued that it required an individual with high acumen who had spent years in the state to take the state to the promised land. He said, “Awka is like a glorified local government. A state capital normally has a befitting capital. But the reverse is the case in Anambra. You can easily drive past the capital without knowing you have passed. No infrastructure, roads are bad everywhere.
The same is seen in Onitsha, Nnewi, and other major towns. Nothing is working.”
