The All Progressives Congress APC in Benue State has expressed dismay over the recent retirement bill proposed and presented by the outgoing Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State to the state House of Assembly, which allegedly provided for what it described as a bogus retirement benefit.
APC in a statement issued on Monday in Makurdi wondered why Governor Ortom, who the party noted has treated both Benue workers and pensioners with disdain would turn around to propose a juicy pension package for himself.
It was learnt that the bill proposes that a house of his taste in any part of the country to stay after leaving Government House be built for him; his medical trips with those of his family members should be footed by the State in addition to a jumbo monthly pay package.
It was gathered further that the bill has already been submitted to the house but it is yet to be presented on the floor and deliberated upon.
Rejecting the yet to be read bill, the APC called on all citizens of conscience to intervene by restraining their representatives at the Benue State House of Assembly from initiating any action that will facilitate passing the bill in order not to deepen the despondency of the state.
