BY NASEER BABA- SIRAJDEEN, MINNA

The former National President of Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Hussaini Yusuf Bosso has urged President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to appoint a Fulani as Minister in the newly created ministry of Livestock

Alhaji Hussaini Bosso also requested the president to consult with relevant Fulani socio cultural and critical stakeholders among the Fulanis to look for a credible and reliable Fulani that will be appointed as the minister in the Ministry.

According to him, the appointment a Fulani as the Minister in the Ministry will further build a harmonious and cordial relationship between the farmers and herders  in the country.

He stated that the appointment of a Fulani to head the Ministry of livestock as created by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, will be seen as putting right leg in a right hole noting that the Ministry will actualize its mandate of leaving up to the expectation of the herders  and farmers.

In an exclusive interview with New National Star in Minna, Alhaji Bosso, explained that the creation of the ministry of livestock by the present administration can be described as the best thing that has happened to the pastorals in the political history of the country.

He noted that the Fulanis in the country have requested for the creation of the ministry from successive administrations in country without any positive response. Applauding the speed with which President Tinubu has delivered, he said, “but within the shortest period of Ahmed Bola Tinubu he was magnanimous to create the ministry of livestock barely after one year into his administration.”

He pointed out that the ideal for bringing the Ministry on board under the leadership of the present administration was mooted to the President Tinubu by Governor Mohammed Umar Bago who was also the only governor that created the Ministry of Nomadic and pastoralist Affairs in Niger and appointed a Fulani as the commissioner.

Explaining further, he said,  the ministry of livestock will now saddled with the  responsibilities of vaccination, treatment of livestock, inspections of slaughtering of  animals and monitoring of Abattoirs among others  while the Ministry of Agriculture will focused its duty on the Provision of farm inputs to the farmers.

Alhaji Bosso, equally acknowledged the visionary leadership of President Tinubu for taking courageous step in creating the ministry of livestock within the one year of his administration and assured  that the Fulani communities will continue to throw their weight behind his administration.

He also appreciated the Niger state governor for his effort in pioneering the creation  of the Ministry of Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs in the Northern state calling on other governors  to  create the Ministry in their respective states
