Bello Turji, a legendary bandit leader, has revealed that his group is funded by God.
Turji made the remark while denying rumors that Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, was supporting his activities.
Matawalle and his successor, Governor Dauda Lawal, have been making and countering charges about the state’s backing of terrorism.
The Minister recently challenged Governor Lawal to swear on the Quran that he was not involved in banditry operations hurting the state.
However, Turji distanced the governor and his predecessor from banditry in the state.
In his most recent video, the bandit commander stated: “Governor Dauda Lawal and Bello Matawalle labeling each other as terrorists (sponsors) will not help.
“I want the people of Zamfara to understand that they are merely politicians who do not have their people’s best interests at heart.
“When (Mr) Matawalle was governor, who sponsored us? Similarly, when Abdulaziz Yari was governor, who was funding us? Nobody, but God, is financing us.
