Mohammed Sanusi, a public affairs analyst, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu not to remove Dr. Betta Edu, the suspended minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation, from his cabinet due to “heavily sponsored blackmail and media trial.”
According to Sanusi, no smart leader would allow a campaign of defamation and sponsored blackmail to cause the loss of a selfless and devoted cabinet member such as Betta Edu.
He characterized Edu as one of President Tinubu’s most proactive, creative, adaptable, and goal-oriented ministers.
Many Nigerians have seen from the sidelines as she used her unselfish passion to provide relief to people in need, the analyst stated.
“She toured and effectively launched a number of grassroots interventions in less than 140 days, greatly improving the lives of the impoverished and vulnerable in over 15 northern states and several southern areas in Nigeria.
“She has effectively represented Nigeria in numerous national and international forums, drawing funding to the ministry of humanitarian relief and poverty alleviation. “For once, the underprivileged and marginalized individuals throughout the nation can attest to the reality that they are genuinely reaping the rewards of the federal government’s diverse initiatives.”
In light of the aforementioned, why would paid blackmail cause any strategic leader to lose a Betta Edu?
Sanusi said that Edu has acted quickly to address humanitarian emergencies in every region of the country on behalf of the federal government.
It is hardly surprising that the victims have not received any aid from the federal government because she was out of office at the time of the Ibadan incident. The victims of the recent Plateau crises are no different. “May God forbid that another crisis arises without her in her position,” he exclaimed.
Sanusi said that the minister’s suspension came after a well-planned, week-long, negative media campaign that was extensively funded by both inside and outside of government circles, with the help of a number of well-known influencers.
