In a minor adjustments in portfolios assigned to ministers-designate, President Bola Tinubu on Sunday named Engr. Abubakar Momoh as minister to oversee the Niger Delta Development ministry.
The absence of the ministry in the initial portfolios had fueled speculations that the president may have scrapped it.
President Tinubu, in a statement on Sunday by Ajuri Ngelale, his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, approved the redeployment of Engr. Momoh from the Federal Ministry of Youth where he was initially assigned, to the Ministry of Niger Delta Development.
Ngelale said the Federal Ministry of Youth will be re-assigned to a Minister-Designate soon.
Similarly, the president also reshuffled the Ministers-Designate allocated to the Federal Ministries of Transportation, Interior, and Marine & Blue Economy.
As such, Alh Adegboyega Oyetola is redeployed as the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy from Transportation while Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo is redeployed as the Honourable Minister of Interior.
Hon. Sa’idu Alkali is redeployed as the Minister of Transportation to replace Oyetola.
The statement further said Ministers of State in the Oil & Gas sector are now domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
As such Senator Heineken Lokpobiri is the Minister of State (Oil), Petroleum Resources while Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo is the Hon. Minister of State (Gas), Petroleum Resources.
The President also approved the renaming of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management as the Federal Ministry of Environment.
“All aforementioned changes take immediate effect by these directives of the President,” the statement read.
The ministers-designates had on Sunday completed their documentation at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in preparation for their swearing in on Monday.
Director Information in the OSGF, Willie Bassey had in a statement earlier on Sunday disclosed that ministers-designates successfully completed their documentation.
“The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has successfully completed the documentation process for all Ministers-Designate this evening.
“It would be recalled that the documentation which commenced yesterday at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the, Shehu Shagari Complex, Abuja,witnessed the large turn-out of most Ministers-Designate who completed the process yesterday.
“Today, the remaining Ministers-Designate concluded the exercise,” Bassey said.
He added that 45 Ministers-Designate successfully completed the documentation process and also picked up three invitation cards for their guests.
He further said that adequate transportation arrangements have been concluded to convey them and their invited guests to the venue of the ceremony at the State House Conference Centre, Aso Villa, Abuja.
The statement advised Permanent Secretaries in various MDAs to meet their respective ministers after the swearing-in ceremony at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for further interaction with them.
