Benue State Independent Electoral Commission Bsiec has slated October 5th, 2024 to conduct local Government polls in the State.
The Bsiec Chairman Mr Richard Tombowua stated this on Thursday while addressing journalists at its headquarters in Makurdi.
He explained that no fewer than eight political parties indicated its readiness to participate in the forthcoming Council elections comprising twenty-three LGAS in the State.
The BSIEC boss further noted over 5,000 ad-hoc staff were recruited and trained to manage the handling of sensitive materials to ensure hitch-free exercises in the State.
He expressed enthusiasm with the participation of stakeholders given assurance there won’t be any issues during the exercise. .
On the question of likely litigation by the Austin Agada-led faction recently dissolved? to scuttle the polls, he dismissed the insinuation with a wave of hand saying nothing to entertain fear with the outcome of exercises.

According to the electoral umpire boss was following the instructions religiously with believed that at the end of exercises, all must be well.
Bsiec Chairman further argued that whoever nurses the desire to result to litigation perhaps it could lead to exercise in futility as the process is designed in such a manner that if anyone obtained a court injunction to stop the elections it would still go on.
