CAN condemns Owo killings, demands action to secure Nigeria
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the killing of worshippers by gunmen in Owo, Ondo State, describing it as satanic and unacceptable.
This is contained in a statement by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, Media Assistant to the CAN President, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, on Sunday in Abuja.
It called on security agencies to quickly apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
“We call on the state governors to meet with the President to find lasting solution to these killings,” it added.
CAN also called for an overhaul of the country’s security architecture and stoppage of the de-racalisation programme for ex-insugents.
“The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria has condemned the unprovoked attack and killing of several innocent worshippers at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo and called on the security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly criminality.
“This is sad, wrong, condemnable, outrageous, unacceptable and satanic.
“There is no explanation for this unprovoked attack and assault on a place of worship,” it said.
CAN urged President Muhammadu Buhari to cancel the deradicalisation programme for ex-insurgents, alleging that the programme only recycles the terrorists to commit more harm.
The association urged that focus should not be only shifted to politics of 2023 elections but also securing the lives of the people.
“We are praying for the government and the security agencies to get it right before it will be too late,” the association added.
It commiserated with all the bereaved families, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria and the Ondo State Government over the incident.

Deeper Life Bible Church Ameka, Ikwo, dedicates church building donated by Chief Christian Asaga Nwali
Abuja based popular hotelier and serial entrepreneur, Architect Chief Christian Asaga Nwali, has expressed happiness and fulfilment with the action of Deeper Life Bible Church (DLBC), Ameka, Ikwo, Ebonyi State, to dedicate a church building his organization built and donated to them.
Speaking with New National Star on Tuesday, Chief Christian Asaga Nwali, who was recently conferred with the chieftaincy title of the “Ide Jiulo 1 of Izzi Nnodo Kingdom” by the entire Izzi Nnodo community in Ebonyi State, said he built the church for the community in the honour of his mother, who had kept faith with the church till date, despite her children and other people leaving for different churches.
He said he was equally convinced to undertake the church building project for God as he was brought up from the church, alongside his siblings and that the doctrine of the church shaped them to become what they are today as they embraced holy Christian living.
He said: “Deeper life Bible Church, Ameka, Ikwo, on Sunday, dedicated the church building we built and donated to them by the grace of God. We were brought up from this church. The doctrine shaped us. The experience we had all through primary and secondary school stages still remain so impeccable. One of the experiences that I can’t forget was how I kept feeling that Christ would come the next minute. This was actually the driving force to holy Christian living. I pray for the later rain to be greater than the former. Amen!
“However, my beloved mum kept faith with the church till date, even when my siblings and I had left for other churches. Our mum still attends DLBC with some of her numerous Ogboos. In her honour and to the greater glory of God Almighty, I built the church building for God.
“I am happy that the services have been moved from the primary school class room to this church building to the glory of God Almighty and courtesy of our efforts towards community development by the Grace of God. God bless the worshipers and God bless you all.”
On his part, the officiating minister, Pastor Benedict Efor, expressed happiness that Chief Nwali has helped to assuage and ameliorate the sufferings and inconveniences of the worshippers as the building of the church led their moving their worship from the primary school classroom to the church building worshipping.
“We are grateful to Chief Christian Asaga Nwali for this show of love and dedication to the work of God. The construction of the church means a lot to us as we have now moved from the classroom to the church building. We pray for God to continue blessing him with good health, long life and prosperity,” he said.
Recall that Nwali has been gaining recognition and appreciation by his people is as a result of his philanthropic activities and humanitarian interventions, including employing over 500 Nigerians, scholarship programs, marriage sponsorship of his employees, distributing cars to his employees at Cirenes Hotels in Abakaliki, Exclusive Serene Hotels and Suites in Enugu and in Wuye, Abuja, among others.

Watch former lawmaker, Uche Meole, testify at Zion Ministry
A former member of the National Assembly, Hon. Dr. Uche Nwole, last week testified at Zion Prayer Movement Outreach (ZPMOM) how his Christian ministry and business witnessed a positive turnaround after he joined the Evangelist Ebuka Obi-led prayer ministry.
Hon. Nwole, who represented Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, told the audience at Zion City at Okota, Lagos, that he flew in from the United Kingdom to testify to what God did in his life through Evangelist Ebuka.
He said when he noticed all his family in the UK were addicted to the ministry online, he started praying and challenged God with an offering and asked that if Evangelist Ebuka was a true prophet, God should make him mention his name in his prophecies. This became a reality on February 9 this year when Ebuka prophesied about him during his online Open Heavens programme.
He stated that the Evangelist also mentioned something only a few people who knew him were aware of – a family deity which he was supposed to serve but because he rejected it and founded a church, his business and ministry became crippled.
Hon. Nwole confirmed to the congregation, however, that after the prophet mentioned his case and prayed for him, things started turning around for good.
“This convinced me that the prophet is real and I came down to Nigeria to step my foot on Zion ground and confirm to everyone that Evangelist Ebuka is a rare gift to the world”.

Why this year’s “Odeshi” will be bigger- Zion Ministry
The Zion Prayer Movement Outreach (ZPMOM), led by Evangelist Chukwuebuka Anozie Obi, has announced the details for this year’s “Odeshi” programme.
“Odeshi”, which literally means “Does not leak or penetrate”, is a programme which usually officially marks the end-of-the-year activities for the ministry located at Zion Estate, Ago, Okota, Lagos.
Speaking at the midweek Prophetic and Deliverance programme on Wednesday, Evangelist Ebuka disclosed that “Odeshi” would be held next weekend, December 9 and 10, beginning from 10 a.m. each day.
He stated that the programme is to seek for divine protection for all those who would be travelling during the Christmas and New Year celebrations as well as to prepare followers of the ministry at Zion City as well as millions who follow online for God’s special blessings and favour for 2024.
The Evangelist added that, going by experiences and testimonies of previous editions, the 2023 Odeshi is expected to record thousands of people giving up their lives to Christ, outstanding miracles and healings, deliverance from bondage and salvation of souls.
With increase in cases of accidents and crime during the festive season, it is important for people to seek for divine protection as they travel within the country and from different parts of the world to visit families and loved ones, Ebuka noted.
Apart from mind-boggling testimonies and pin-point prophecies with solutions recorded at Zion, Ebuka is increasingly growing popular for conversion of native doctors, cultists and prostitutes, saving marriages on the brink of collapse, charity works of his Seraphic Foundation, free treatment for indigent families at Seraphic Hospital and giving out money to reconciled couples and converted people to enable them to start up decent businesses.
