The Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) is set to host a town hall meeting on Monday on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The meeting will be hosted on Zoom at 10:00 am West Central Africa Time.
There are high hopes for the AfCFTA activation. Although the CBN did not state the reason for the meeting, Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, recently said that activation of the AfCFTA agreement would reduce the dumping of unidentified products in Nigeria as well as other African countries.
Adebayo, who was represented by the Director of Trade of the Ministry, Aliyu Abubakar, said that other countries through AfCFTA had agreed to liberalise 90 per cent of their products to the market with the remaining 10 per cent left under special and sensitive products that they wished to keep.
